Loved this article – a great tribute! Doug and Nancy raised quality Quarter Horses. Their hard work and dedication did much to promote the breed and support the industry. I bought some of my first Quarter Horses from Birdtail ranch including the best mare I ever owned – Ma Dear (Pasamonte Paul x Pretty Bar Dear by Classy Bar). Many of the horses I have today carry Classy Bar blood through this mare, better known as Duchess. My husband and I also had a Classy Bar Stallion out of a Leo bred mare and a Classy Bar filly who unfortunately was killed by lightning.
I drove to the ranch when I was in Montana in 2000 but no one was home. I later contacted Nancy by phone and told her what Duchess had done for me. She remembered the mare but that was no surprise – I doubt she ever forgot a Birdtail Ranch horse!

This is incredible. Most of our horses wont jump a puddle well alone off a ramp into a pool. Although not on my bucket list – Way cool !

Jock has helped me out with a couple of waterer issues, he is a down to earth, solutions guy. Brenda is incredibly talented; if you happen to find yourself in the vicinity of Irricana, take a drive through the town, you will see her artistic work in the many murals on the walls of town buildings. Rumor has it each mural hides a small mouse painted in it somewhere – great fun for kids to hunt for it!

i have a clipping from the cowtown addition of bridle and bit, an advertisement of marcy vermeers that says “dont let dreams be dreams”, reminds me why i drag my butt to work day after day…:)

On my board is a sign that says “I’m so busy I don’t know if I’ve lost my horse or found a rope”. It was a gift from a very good friend who knows me too well. I love that sign!

Hi Jenn, I met you not too long ago at your indoor areana. I had a palomino gelding that Christa Vindum brought to Clay to do a pre-purchase exam. Christa did end up buying him and I am so glad he has a wonderful home with her and Steve.
I don’t know if you remember, but I am a twin mom also. Our twins are almost eight months old, a boy and a girl as well!! Its pretty awesome to have one of each!!!
I really enjoy your blog….I can so relate!! People with one baby just can’t understand what it takes to have two. I often tell people, its not all the work of changing diapers and feedings, etc… its the emotional part of having two babies crying, or finally getting one down for a nap and by the time you get the second one down, the first one wakes up! Its the most frustrating and hardest thing I’ve ever done, yet its also the most amazing and rewarding thing I’ve ever done….so many emotions. I think I may need to see a shrink regularly by the time they are two! The one thing I know for sure is I couldn’t do it without my husband! He is absolutely amazing with the twins and although he works long days, he is always happy to give me a break when he gets home. Sounds like Clay is a great partner as well…aren’t we lucky! Some days are REALLY hard and I have to try to remember how lucky we are as well.
So keep those blogs coming, its so nice to see someone else put a sense of humour into twin mom life! Maybe you can answer the question that every twin parent asks….does it ever get better? Its seems everyone has a different answer…but when both mine are down for the night and sleep till 7am, I say…it can’t get much better than that!!
