Saskatchewan Paint Horse News

August, sweet August! Finally the sun and heat have come. Been another interesting summer, never a dull or dry moment till the past couple of weeks.  I hope you are all enjoying your summer with your horses.  I hear our members are burning up the open horse show ring, and a few did very well at the Olds Paint Horse Show.

Congratulations go out to Taylor Gardner and Mr. Sylvester for winning Novice youth, Diana Nordal and Silent Sams Pride for winning Novice youth 14-18, Stephanie McMillian and SAQ Twist Zip Leo for winning Novice Amateur, and a huge congratulations to Kaitlyn Fehr and LPA Free Image for winning Solid Paint Bred horse.  Kaitlyn is a new member to our club and this was her first breed show. Other good news from our youth contingent Diana Nordal and  Silent Sams Pride  have added reining to their class list and now have points in reining after the Drayton show. As I am writing this I know everyone is packing for  Zone 10 show Aug 4 – 7 SPHC will have a good contingent of exhibitors and from what I hear, there will be a \”Saskatchewan Alley\”. Then some of our Paint Youth will be heading to Moose Jaw for the Youth Equestrian Tournament on August 11 to 14.  We again will be having a hi Point Paint award at the YET show and hope lots of our youth come out and Colour the ring. Good Luck all at both shows! we will have your results in the next newsletter.

The Harvest of Colors show is fast approaching and after missing our Spring show and we  are looking forward to hosting and attending our fall show.  This years show will be September 9, 10 & 11, 2011 at Prairieland Park, Saskatoon. The master entries, stall forms  and futurity forms are now up at www.saskpainthorseclub.com/saskatoonshowforms.htm and need to be in by Sept. 1. There will be added money to futurities and an exhibitors draw for a new video camera!  As well as the solid Paint incentives up to four $50 gift certificates towards show fees.  So do not leave that lovely solid at home.  Our plans for our youth club were put on hold till the fall so, but that only gave us more time to make things bigger and better.  Check out the Youth Page at www.saskpainthorseclub.com/youth.htm for information on the Champagne Western Pleasure Calcutta, Scavenger Hunt and Pony Piñata! With forming our new youth club we will also need a club logo, so get out your pencils and crayons out and design what you think the look of the Saskatchewan Junior Paint Horse Club should be. Bring your designs to the Harvest of Colours show for everyone to see and the winning logo will be picked at the show.  The youth club will also be holding a Silent Auction fundraiser at the Harvest of Colours Show, any and all items will be welcomed on the table. Please let us know if you can contribute to this fundraising event or just bring your items to the Youth Meeting on Friday night.

SPHC members should put their thinking caps on – directors have been brainstorming trying to figure out what our members are looking for from the club.  Are they looking for a fun trail ride; a clinic; a judging clinic or are we already providing what they need.  Feedback is always appreciated, feel free to contact any of our directors.

Its that time of year again! We are actively seeking candidates for the 2011 Agribition Foal and/or Yearling Raffle Filly/Colt! If you have a colored APHA registered baby and/or yearling you think would be a good candidate for SPHC to purchase for the Agribition Raffle this year, please send us an email and attach current photos and information!

Well that’s it for now, keep enjoying summer and those lovely Paint Horses of yours.
