\"AQHA\"

Saddle up and make plans now to attend to the upcoming American Quarter Horse Association Region Two Championship Show and AQHA shows in Rapid City, South Dakota. Bring your horse and join in on a fun and exciting way to meet new people, achieve personal goals, and earn prizes while showing your American Quarter Horse!

This year’s Region Two Championship Show will be held September 20-23, 2012, at the Central States Fairgrounds. Exhibitors from Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Alberta and Saskatchewan are all invited to compete at this championship event. Classes feature novice youth, novice amateur, youth, amateur, select amateur and open competition with more than $100,000 in total prizes and awards. Make your plans and enter before September 10, 2012, to avoid late fees.

This year, the championship show will be combined with two AQHA-approved shows.

Exhibitors from all states and with world champion shows eligibility are invited to attend these shows. In the individual events the Regional Championship classes and the pointed classes will run concurrently and in any class judged on the rail the classes will run separately. Working Cowhorse, Roping, Speed Events, and Ranch Sorting will be held on Thursday, Sept 20. Reining and Trail will be held on Friday September 21; halter, showmanship, hunter under saddle, and hunt seat equitation classes will be held Saturday, September 22; and Western Pleasure, Western Riding and Western Horsemanship classes will conclude the show on September 23. Complete class schedules and an entry form for the Regional Championship Show are available online at www.aqharegion2.com and you can follow the show on Facebook. Please reserve hotel rooms by September 10, 2012 now to ensure a room is available. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Howard Johnson Hotel at a rate of $65/night. Staying at the host hotel also helps Region 2 Show with sponsorships.

New this year – exhibitors placing in the top ten in any novice class will be eligible for the 2013 AQHA Novice Championship Show. If a novice class is not held for a certain class, points and placing from the corresponding youth or amateur class will also be qualifying.

Special events planned include a Wrangler Clinic Thursday, September 20, 2012 and an ice cream social sponsored by Mike and Ruth Gates. Small Fry classes for ages 10 and under will be held with an All Around Champion and Reserve Champion selected. Walk-trot and Lead Line classes will also be held.

There are still opportunities to sponsor a class, advertise in the program, or present your wares in the trade show. Please consult the website www.aqharegion2.com for these opportunities.
