Calgary –Enjoy two afternoons of free and unique rodeo action, featuring aspiring young cowboys and cowgirls, August 23 and 24 at the Agrium Western Event Centre.
About 70 4-H members, aged nine to 20 years old, will compete in the Calgary Stampede’s annual Invitational 4-H Rodeo, held on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24. The rodeo runs 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., showcasing rodeo events such as pole-bending, goat-tying, steer-daubing and cow riding. Timed events (barrel racing, thread the needle and pole bending) are on Saturday afternoon and rough-stock events (breakaway roping, cow riding and goat tying) run on Sunday. Award presentations will take place after each event.
In addition to the competitions, 4H contestants spend their mornings in educational seminars to learn proper techniques to enhance safety for themselves, their horses and the livestock. For a complete schedule, visit www.calgarystampede.com/agriculture
