Heritage Ranch Rodeo Results

The following are the final results from the Heritage Ranch Rodeo, running from November 7th to 9th, as part of Farmfair.  The top Heritage ranches in Canada were invited to compete.

The Mesabi Ranch in Nanton, Alberta came out in first in the Ranch Rodeo Competition with a total of 46.5 points.  Each ranch competed in Sorting, Branding, Wild Cow Milking,  Team Doctoring, Wild Horse Race and Bronc Riding events to determine the winner.  The Rocking Ranch, also in Nanton, Alberta, came in second with 43.5 points, with both ranches earning a score of 76 in the Bronc ride.

The R Bar Ranch in Bluffton, Alberta came in close with a score of 43 points. The ranch excelled in the Sorting and Wild Cow Milking events.

Bar U Ranch in Longview, Alberta, finished fourth with a final score of 31 points.  The Bronc riding turned out to be the deciding factor – the ranches that placed 4th and 5th both had a rider bucked off in that event.

The other finalists included 45 Ranch from Winfield, Alberta and Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan with a score of 31 points; Stump Lake Ranch from Longview, Alberta with 30 points (which included a score of 85 in the Bronc ride); High Plains Ranch in Carnduff, Saskatchewan, with 29 points; and Roseburn Ranches, High River, Alberta, with a final score of 24 points.

Top Working Cow Horse: Nolan Pharis
