NRCHA Celebration of Champions Wraps Up

The National Reined Cow Horse Association Celebration of Champions has wrapped up and I\’m extremely pleased to report that Canada was very well represented at this international spectacle of cow horses! HUGE wins came out of it and the icing on the cake? The Alberta Reined Cow Horse Association was named as the affiliate of the year by the NRCHA at last night\’s banquet!

Suzon Schaal is deserving of another big round of applause. With her hard working attitude and willingness to help all of her fellow Canadians with emergency veterinary issues and federal border crossing considerations, Schaal is simply put, a wonderful person. And when she claimed her 5th World Title at the Celebration of Champions this week, her fans had even more reason to cheer. Texas must be getting used to seeing Okotoks, Alberta\’s own Schaal in the NRCHA spotlight as she won the World Open Bridle Championship with a 434 run. However, Schaal and Genuine Brown Gal also claimed the championship of the Int. NP Bridle finals – making for 2 world championships in one week!

Immediately behind her was Terri Holowath who took the reserve championship of the Int. NP Bridle World Finals. Holowath rode her Pickachiclet to a 428.5 to take the reserve position of the Int. Non-Pro and scored $1,992.What a way to make a Canadian clean sweep!

But that wasn\’t all for Schaal… Following the NRCHA awards banquet, she was named the 2012 National Champion in Non-Pro Bridle. This is the year end award given to the rider with the most points from the show season.
