2011 Open Rider Clinic, February 12-13

It’s coming up fast, this weekend as a matter of fact, but if you’re in the Cochrane, Alberta, area, Prairie Mountain Ranch will play host to the 2011 Reining Alberta Open Rider Clinic. This year, the featured clinician will be NRHA million dollar rider, Brent Wright. Wright has been garnering titles since he first ventured into the NRHA show pen in 1989. His list of wins includes placing 3rd at the 1999 NRHA Open Futurity on Custom Red Berry, a mare he then rode to the 2001 NRHA Open Derby Championship. In 2001, Wright rode Custom Pistol to the Congress Open Futurity Co-Championship, and the NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Championship after tying to win. He also won the 2002 NRBC Open Reserve Championship and the 2002 NRHA Open Derby on Custom Pistol.

Marcy Ver Meer Clinic, May 13-15

If you’ve ever met Marcy Ver Meer, you’ll realize right off the bat that she’s an absolute doll. The second thing you’ll realize is that she is very passionate about the sport of reining and a complete fanatic about rider body position in her non-pros. In 2007, Ver Meer became the first woman to mark 230 at the NRHA Futurity and earned the reserve championship aboard Gunners Special Nite, aka “Bailey.” And her long list of credentials doesn’t stop there.

If you’re interested in learning more about Ver Meer’s championship program, she will be conducting a clinic at the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society on May 13, 14 & 15th. Each group of 3 will have 2 1/2 hours of instruction and the cost is $575 per person. Spectators are also welcome for $10.00 per day. For more information, please contact Margaret Fraser 403-232-7193 (days) or 403-208-4130 (evenings).

Personal Performance Clinic with Barbra Schulte, May 14 & 15

Out in the Okanagan Valley, the Reinin’ In The Sun show crew is proud to announce their own educational event with a clinic conducted by Mentally Tough guru, Barbra Schulte. Held May 14 and 15 at the Armstrong Fair Grounds in Armstrong, BC, this event will offer a significant clinic opportunity for cutters and reiners alike to get ahead in their game!
Having successfully trained and shown cutting horses professionally, Schulte realized that her unique personal passion with horses involved two parts – to train and show cutting horses and a deep desire to understand and teach riders to reach peak performance levels under pressure. Schulte opted to give up her successful horse training business to become certified as an exclusive equestrian coach and has pioneered the integration of personal performance training into the equestrian world. 1. Also a reining clinic with Vern Sapergia May 27-29 at my property (Wildwood Reining Horses) in Hanceville BC – in the Chilcotin! We’re thrilled to have Vern back – he was here in April last year. Check out my web page for details.
